About the Author:

Raymond Aron (1905-1983) was one of the most important figures in sociological and political commentary in the twentieth century. A member of the French Air Force during World War II, he later became an influential columnist of Le Figaro, a position he held for thirty years. He was the author of several books, including The Opium of the Intellectuals, Clausewitz: Philosopher of War, and Main Currents in Sociological Thought.
