From School Library Journal:
Grade 7-12 Coffey, who wrote When Your Parent Drinks Too Much: a Book for Teenagers (Facts on File, 1985) under the pseudonym Eric Ryerson, hopes to convey to readers that the decision to drink or not to drink alcohol should be a careful, informed one. The voices of 50 teens, while sometimes repetitive, talk about the subject in terms that directly relate to their livesglamorization by media; peer pressure; feeling sick and out of control; parental attitudes; myths related to drinking; drinking and driving; and how to get help for a parent, friend, or self. The information is realisticnot all drinking is badbut cautious. There are no illustrations, nor is there an index. Susan and Daniel Cohen in A Six Pack and a Fake I.D. (Evans, 1986) use the same technique but give more historical and medical information. Alcohol: Uses and Abuses (Enslow, 1988) by Margaret O. Hyde also treats the subject more thoroughly and technically, but in a less personable fashion. Martha Gordon, South Salem Lib . , N.Y.
