This book illustrates the powerful, life-changing Option Process Dialogue in action. With a caring and loving hand, Barry Neil Kaufman takes us on a very intimate journey with the young people he has helped. He brings us unflinchingly into moments of extreme crisis involving rape, questions of sexuality, a dying parent, divorce, the prison of drugs. Just as we think we're going to duck or turn away, we find ourselves swept away, side by side with Dawn, Angie, Jonathan and the others, awed by their lessons and drawn forward by their up-lifting experiences-as well as our own sense of growth.

From the Inside Flap:
"You'll Laugh, You'll Cry, But You'll Walk Away Cheering."

Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Barry Neil Kaufman won national acclaim with Son-Rise and To Love is to Be Happy With. Now, he takes readers on an intimate journey through the challenges facing the young people with whom he has worked.

Each Drama is Unique, All are Unforgettable:
-- a young girl facing the decision to have an abortion or a baby...
-- a sensitive adolescent learning to deal with a parent's death...
-- the pilgrimage of parents whose child is locked behind an emotional barrier...
-- the frustration of a bright child with an undiagnosed learning disability...
-- the torment of a teenage girl troubled by her own blossoming sexuality...

Here are the stories of young people at critical turning points in their lives. Here also is the story of the man who neither judges them nor censures them, but simply accepts them and, ultimately, helps them to make their own choices.
About the Author:
On a peaceful New England mountainside in Western Massachusetts, a dream flourishes. The Option Institute is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1983 by Barry Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman, who continue to actively teach in Institute programs. The Kaufmans are the authors of 12 books on The Option Process and The Son-Rise Program, including Happiness Is A Choice, Son-Rise: The Miracle Continues, To Love Is To Be Happy With and PowerDialogues. There are over 3 million copies of their books in print, in 22 languages, in over 65 countries. Since 1972, the Kaufmans have been teaching adults The Option Process, a powerful method of uncovering and changing limiting and/or self-defeating beliefs. This unique process enables people to dramatically increase their own happiness, personal power and success, as well as enhance their ability to meet challenging or difficult events with strength and confidence. They are also the originators of The Son-Rise Program, created when their own son, Raun, was diagnosed as severely and incurably autistic. The Kaufmans' groundbreaking program transformed Raun from a mute, withdrawn child with an I.Q. of less than 30, into a highly verbal, socially interactive boy with a near-genius I.Q. Bearing no traces of his former condition, Raun graduated from an Ivy League university and now lectures and teaches groups, families and individuals at The Option Institute. Son-Rise: The Miracle Continues, the story of the Kaufmans' work with their son, became a best-selling book and award-winning NBC-TV movie. In the 25 years since it was established, The Option Institute has grown to a 100-acre campus with a full-time staff of over 80 dedicated individuals, offering personal growth seminars to thousands of adults and educational programs to more than 20,000 families of children with special needs.
