PreSchool-- With so many fine Noah's Ark books available, it is hard to imagine anyone wanting this one. The sing-song verse is predictable and trite. Noah instructs the animals, "Now keep together it's terrible weather" and "Hurry up pet before you get wet." In the familiar cartoon style of Hawkins' illustrations, Noah is dressed in overalls and accompanied by a goggle-eyed spider as he urges the animals to board the ark. Lifting the book's flaps will provide a bit of interest for preschoolers, but the Emberleys' One Wide River to Cross (Prentice-Hall, 1966; o.p.) is a far superior Noah counting book. --Kathy Piehl, Mankato State University, MN
