From School Library Journal:
Grade 7-12-- This contrived, incredible book features Ellen, a British teenager who moves into her own flat, telling only her brother and two friends. The first day she is there, Felix moves in with her; even though she has never seen him before, Ellen cannot bring herself to make him leave since he claims that he had planned to rent the flat, but that she beat him to it. Predictably, the adults eventually find out, Felix moves out, and Ellen grows up a little. The book will be frustrating to readers who are not familiar with Britain, its school systems, and phrases. There is little information to explain what makes any of the characters tick. The result is poorly developed characters who don't garner much sympathy or understanding. --Dona Weisman, Northeast Texas Lib . System, Garland
