A biography of the brilliant ballet dancer who went on to become a choreographer, film actor, and director of the American Ballet Theatre

From School Library Journal:
Grade 7-9-- Surprisingly, there has been no juvenile biography of Baryshnikov since Saul Goodman's book (Harvey House, 1979; o.p.). Glassman's account of the Russian dancer's career updates the earlier book, bringing his story to 1990. Now in his early 40s, the ballet star has reduced his strenuous dancing schedule to concentrate on new ventures in business and the theatre. Glassman writes in a competent although undistinguished style, and the conventional format of the book, with poorly reproduced black-and-white photographs, is similarly unremarkable. However, the index and bibliography are useful additions, and an insert with nine glossy full-color photographs of the dancer in various ballet and film roles brightens the book. In any case, once readers look beyond the unattractive cover, the subject of the book leaps through the pages, as spectacularly the center of attention as he is on stage or on the screen. --Shirley Wilton, Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ
