About the Author:
SHIRLEY HUGHES was inspired to create books in the 1960s, when her own children were very young. She has since illustrated more than two hundred children's books. Her many awards include the Kate Greenaway Medal for DOGGER and ELLA'S BIG CHANCE, the prestigious Eleanor Farjeon Award for her services to children's literature, and an Order of the British Empire. She lives in London.
