Although there is no such indication, this work is an updated edition of Stevenson's 1994 work of the same title. As with the earlier edition, this volume chronologically lists all of the nominees and winners of the Tony Award, from the first Antoinette Perry Awards in 1947 to the 2000 ceremonies. For each year, the categories are listed with each nominee and the title of the relevant play or musical. The winner for that category is indicated with a star next to the name, and a name/title index follows. There are a few drawbacks to this reference: there are no cross references or quick findings lists (e.g., best play), and there is no commentary, which would add value as it does in Mason Wiley's Inside Oscar: The Unofficial History of the Academy Awards (LJ 3/1/86) and other film award books. Also, the list itself is identical to that found on the American Theatre Wing's official Tony Awards web site (www.tonys.org), which also features a search engine and text adapted from Stevenson's book.
