It was therefore eminently fitting that the Michigan Historical Commission, charged by the legislature with the task of preserving Michigan history, should cooperate with the Mackinac Island State Park Commission in placing memorial tablets of early explorers and missionaries in this state park. It is also becoming that the presenta tion of this tablet today, to the state of Michigan, should be made by the President of the Michigan Historical Commission.
