As a result of considerable experience obtained last year in instructing prospective aviators and mechanics, and in response to an, insistent demand, the writer prepared a treatise on air plane power-plants called Aviation Engines, which has met with a very gratifying reception and which is used by many aviation schools as a text on this subject. Instructors who are using the engine book successfully and numerous students who have derived some benefit from its contents have asked for an exposition of the airplane in which its operation and te pair principles would be written in the same simple non-tech nical manner as the treatise referring to power-plants.
