Dieses zeichen, welches ich wegen sein häufigen vorkommens an die spitze der zusammenstellung aller in den inschriften ge brauchten typen in den „inscriptions de l'ienisse1 gestellt habe, wird als anfangsbuchstabe verwendet. Nur in wenigen fällen findet man dafiir das sonst als inlaut gebraucht wird und überhaupt dasselbe zeichen ist, obwohl auf die seite gedreht. Da die interpunktion oft weggelassen oder verwischt ist, kann man daher immer, wo ein mitten in der wortreihe begegnet, den anfang eines neuen wortes oder zusammensetzung vermuthen.
