Without preface or comment, we ask of our friends and fellow Merchants a careful perusal of the aecom panying Documents. Our object in bringing this subject before the Government of the Board 'of Trade was twofold: First, the hope that the result might be beneficial to our own good name; and secondly, knowing that all other houses in this country whose tonnage had been thus employed, were, like ourselves, deceived in the nature of the business; we hoped that the verdict of a competent Committee would place on record such a Report as would remove any imputation or stain from the name Or fame of the.
