Da diese merkwurdigen Organismen seitdem nicht wieder Gegenstand eingehender Unter suchurig gewesen sind, so entsprach ich gerne der Aufforderung des Leiters der deutschen tiefsee-expedition von 1898 - 99, Herrn Prof. C. Chun, die von der Valdivia erbeuteten Objekte dieser Art zu bearbeiten. Gleichzeitig wurde mir auch von dem Leiter der amerikanischen „albatross-expedition der jahre 1899 - 1900, Herrn Prof. A. Aga5512, eine größere Anzahl hierher gehöriger Formen zur naheren Untersuchung überlassen. Und endlich hatte ich das Glück, von dem Direktor des British Museum of Natural History, Herrn Prof. Ray-lankester mit Zustimmung des Leiters der „challenger-publikationen, Sir john murray und des Herrn Prof. E. Haeckel das von haeckel früher benutzte reiche Material der „challenger.
