From School Library Journal:
Grade 2-4A small portion of The Ra mayana, the Sanskrit epic poem, in which Rama; his brother; and his wife, Sita, are banished to the forest. Sita is kidnapped by Ravana, the king of the demons, and rescued with the help of the monkey people. The illustrations, done in water-based paints with touch es of brilliant color, partly resemble na tive Indian art and fit the story perfect ly. The section of the epic that is presented is well-enough told, but even this portion is abbreviated. Older chil dren will be better off with a more com plete version, but there may be some slight appeal here for younger chil dren.Ronald A.
