SongStream 2: An American Journey is a second collection of ten songs for youth choirs, largely scored for SAB with some divisi and optional parts. These exciting, accessible, and stylistically varied pieces take you on a journey from Canada through North to Central and South America. They include original pieces and arrangements with a strong regional flavour, among them folk-songs, a spiritual, and new arrangements of popular tunes. About the Author:

Bob Chilcott has a established an international reputation as one of Britain's most versatile and popular composers of choral music. He began his career as a chorister and choral scholar in the choir of King's College, Cambridge, under the leadership of Sir David Wilcocks and Philip Ledger. For twelve years, he was a member of the renowned vocal ensemble The King's Singers, for whom he wrote numerous a cappella and accompanied pieces and arrangements, many of which have been featured on the group's recordings for BMG and EMI Records. It was this experience that led him to full-time composition, fulfilling a desire to extend his commitment to young and to amateur choirs through his own brand of accessible music, which allows him to share his deep belief in the communicative and social aspects of music. Bob Chilcott currently conducts the chorus at the Royal College of Music in London and is in great demand as a guest conductor and leader of choral workshops worldwide.

This second collection of songs for youth choirs follows in the path successfully blazed by the first volume in the series. The arrangements are largely scored for SAB to keep them within the scope of choirs with developing young men's voices. That said, the arrangements are imaginative and in no way suggest that compromises have had to be made to fulfil the SAB criterion. . . you have a collection to be enjoyed not just by the young but by the young at heart. There are arrangements of traditional songs, for example a boisterous version of Buffalo Gals, and a particularly gorgeous setting of a Mexican folksong, Senora Santa Ana, with its scrumptious, harmonically-unsettled opening piano part.
