About the Author:

Bhisham Sahni was a well-known Indian playwright and actor, who was born in Rawalpindi, British India, in 1915. He had a master's degree in English. He played an active role in the Quit India Movement and was even jailed for this reason. Most of Sahni s literary works depict the lives of individuals who led a cowed life under the pressure of socio-political-economic sullenness. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award and the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship. Some of his other notable works are Tamas, Gulal Ka Khel, and The Train Has Reached Amritsar.
