Grade 2-3–Emma doesn't see herself as a superhero, but when she witnesses the biggest third-grader, Jared, tormenting EllRay, the littlest, she jumps into the fray before she can even consider the consequences. Adding insult to the threat of injury, EllRay is less than appreciative, and the other students are divided in their loyalties. Some say she shouldn't have done a boy thing and call her Super Emma in a mocking tone. But when Jared tries to dump her in a garbage can during recess, EllRay beats him up, and the other classmates come round.
