About the Author:
Amy J. Marin received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Arizona State University. As a graduate student, she was a National Science Foundation fellow and the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award for excellence in research. Her early research interests included cultural issues related to identity and achievement as well as women’s mental health. However, she always knew that teaching was her passion, and for more than 25 years she has been a full-time faculty member at Phoenix College in the Behavioral Sciences department, where she is the lead coordinator for the Introductory Psychology courses. She is also the coordinator for the Maricopa Institute for Learning, a position that allows her to mentor faculty research projects related to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Roger R. Hock received his Ph.D. in Experimental Social Psychology from the University of California at San Diego and is the director of the Psychology Program at Mendocino College in northern California. He is the author of several well-known books, including two textbooks from Pearson, Human Sexuality and Forty Studies that Changed Psychology: Explorations into the History of Psychological Research. He is co-author of It’s My Life Now: Starting Over After an Abusive Relationship or Domestic Violence (Routledge). He brings over 30 years of teaching and writing experience to this project.
