From the Back Cover:

"An invaluable resource for anyone developing, configuring, and deploying J2EE applications on Oracle9i Application Server." --Mikael Ottosson, Technical Director/Business Development, Oracle9iAS Application Server, Oracle Corporation

Build J2EE Applications for the Oracle Platform

Design and develop Oracle9i enterprise applications with Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE). From the exclusive publishers of Oracle Press books, this essential resource explains how to create J2EE applications and deploy them to Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE (OC4J). You'll learn how to build Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) using the EJB 2.0 Specification, servlets, and JavaServer Pages (JSP). You'll also get coverage of the technologies supported by OC4J, including JDBC, SQLJ, Oracle9iAS TopLink, and more.

  • Install and configure the stand-alone or single-instance version of OC4J
  • Develop local bean-managed persistent (BMP) and container-managed persistent (CMP) entity beans
  • Create session beans that implement business logic and workflow
  • Set up Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ) as a JMS provider
  • Code JMS clients to use Queue and Topic message implementations supplied by Oracle AQ
  • Write message-driven beans (MDBs) for asynchronous message processing that produce and consume Queue and Topic message implementations supplied by Oracle AQ
  • Implement security using Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS)
  • Use OC4J Web Services--SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI--and develop Web applications

Covers EJB 2.0, Web Services, Oracle AQ, Oracle9iAS TopLink, and Oracle Database Releases 7.x, 8i, and 9i
